single rider

For the first time,in a long time, I don’t have someone I automatically turn to for companionship, a flirty text, automatic dinner plans or um, after dinner plans. It is just me and you know what, it is a very liberating.  I am more independent now than ever. I am one of those girls. I will not only go, BUT ENJOY the following activities by myself: going to a movie at the old school theater on a Sunday night with a mini bottle of vino and raisinettes stashed in my purse; being out of town so I can go to the hotel bar, order a drink, and ease drop; saying, “Just one.” at a restaurant (now I will admit it took me a longg time to not pretend like I was reading or doing anything else important); and basically doing anything I want to do, when I want to do it. Ahhhhh.

It's a nice sense of irresponsibility."

day dreaming

On this rainy, cold (relative to past week's spring temperatures), and particularly uninteresting Wednesday, I find myself day dreaming. I want to feel the sand between my toes. This photo is from a trip out to the west coast, back in may of 09.

Insert thoughts of Malibu here.
On a side note: this is what images in my day dreams usually look like.

better things to do

I love music. I pride myself in my taste going beyond top 40. Now I love Brit Brit and Gaga as much as any other twenty-something year old, but I have a very diverse taste. I listen to  anything from Brazilian jazz music to jam bands to rap to old school country music. When I discover a new song or band, I genuinely get excited. I particularly like when you discover lyrics of a new song that seem to talk to you at that very moment in your life.
The following song does just that:

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - Better things to do

I am currently blasting this as I get ready for a night out with girlfriends :)

blog therapy

Hi. Someone once told me, “I wish I knew what was going on inside that head of yours.” Truth is, sometimes I do too.  I figured blogging would give the world a small taste.  Here are some things that make me smile, inspire me, annoy me, scare me, and make me – well me.  Enjoy.
